Beaded Seal Fur
Created by Autumn Shotridge
Tlingit Artist Autumn Shotridge, daughter of Sue & Israel Shotridge was born in Ketchikan, Alaska. She is a member of the Kiksadi Tribe of Wrangell AK, part of the Raven/Frog clan. Her Tlingit name is Yaada kin Yeil which means “Flying Raven”.
Autumn developed her love for beading at a young age by watching her paternal Tlingit grandmother Esther Shea the last matriarch of the Teikwedee clan of Ketchikan. Autumn’s spirituality shines through in each of her pieces that she makes out of seal fur.
Much of her inspiration comes from her daughter Aria. Traditional glass seed beaded edging around the seal fur with accent beads complete her works of art.
